Our office is open Monday thru Friday for your convenience. You can come into our clinic without an appointment and receive your free pregnancy test. Our office is located in Upland, CA. Whether you are trying to get pregnant or are concerned about an unplanned pregnancy, a pregnancy test is an important tool. For many women, taking a pregnancy test can be stressful. It can bring up many emotions, including excitement and fear. But knowing you are pregnant as soon as possible can help you make the decisions that are right for you.
At Advanced Healthcare for Women & Children, we offer free pregnancy testing and give you a confirmation of pregnancy with your due date information on the same day. Your due date is the most important piece of information to have about your pregnancy (doctors often use the term “EDC”). At Advanced Healthcare for Women & Children, we offer ultrasounds (sonogram) to confirm your EDC at your first prenatal visit. Our pregnancy test in our office is free and can be made with an appointment and/or on a walk-in basis.
What is a Pregnancy Test ?
Pregnancy tests are usually simple urine tests that show if a woman is pregnant. They test for a hormone called human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG). HCG is released when a fertilized egg attaches to the lining of the uterus. HCG is only found in a woman’s body if she is pregnant. Many women prefer to take a home pregnancy test or go to a health care provider for one. Home pregnancy tests are sold in most drugstores and cost about $20.00. If you take a home test, it’s important to follow all of the instructions in the package of the home pregnancy test. The results will be either positive — meaning pregnant — or negative — meaning not pregnant. Advanced Healthcare for Women & Children offers free pregnancy testing, and/or can offer you a blood pregnancy test, if you desire.
When Can I Take a Pregnancy Test?
You can take a pregnancy test as soon as your period is late. Some pregnancy tests even work a few days before a missed period. It is important to read the label on the pregnancy test box to see when the test may become effective. They are most effective once you have already missed your period.
How Accurate Are Pregnancy Test?
Pregnancy tests are very accurate. Most home pregnancy tests work 99 out of 100 times if used after a missed period. Pregnancy tests can be less effective if you take the pregnancy test too early, if you do not use the test correctly, or if the expiration date on the pregnancy test has passed. What If My Pregnancy Test Is Positive?
If the pregnancy test is positive, that means you’re pregnant. If you’ve taken a home pregnancy test, it’s important to visit Advanced Healthcare for Women & Children for a free pregnancy test. We can confirm the results, discuss your options with you if you are unsure about what to do, and help you get prenatal care.
What If My Pregnancy Test is Negative?
A negative result from a home pregnancy test means you’re unlikely to be pregnant. If you have a negative pregnancy test, it maybe that you have taken the test too early. If you would like to confirm if you are pregnant, you can wait until a day or two after your missed period and call our staff at Advanced Healthcare for Women & Children for us to give you a free pregnancy test if you prefer. Our office also offers blood pregnancy tests, which can see if you are pregnant earlier than a urine pregnancy test.
What If I Can’t Understand the Results?
Women sometimes find the results of pregnancy tests hard to read. If it’s unclear whether the home pregnancy test you’ve taken is positive or negative, visit a health care provider for another test. If you are a pregnant mother that is in need of prenatal care, we are here to help you with your pregnancy needs. If you do not have health insurance, our staff can sign you up for the Presumptive Eligibility Program and/or “Emergency Medi-Cal”, which covers prenatal visits, prescriptions, and prenatal care while you are pregnant.
